Nov. 8, 2011 —     Six statewide races were on today’s ballot. Here are the unofficial precinct totals for Rowan County:

         Lonnie Curtis Davis, 47, of Morehead, was killed Friday afternoon when the farm tractor he was operating flipped over on top of him.

  • Former MSU cheer coach coach Myron Doan dies

    Retired Morehead State Cheerleading Coach and Dean of Students Myron Doan passed away Sunday in a hospital in Northern Kentucky. He led MSU cheer squads to 19 national championships. Services are pending and will be announced later.

    Walter Blevins turned back five opponents Tuesday to capture the Democratic nomination for Rowan County judge-executive.

  • Tyndall to coach Tennessee

    Former Morehead State University Basketball Coach Donnie Tyndall has been named to that position at the University of Tennessee.

  • Open Fork man dies in crash

          Kentucky State Police said Thomas Allen Mabry, 52, of Open Fork Road, Morehead, was killed Tuesday morning when his pickup truck left the roadway and struck a concrete culvert.

  • Tyndall to coach Tennessee Vols

         Multiple media sources were reporting Monday night that former Morehead State University basketball Coach Donnie Tyndall, now at Southern Mississippi, had been hired to coach the University of 'Tennessee.

         UT is excpected to announce Tuesday that Tyndall, who won 56 games in two years at USM and twice led MSU to the NCAA Tournament, will sign an $8 million contract.
