Nov. 8, 2011 —     Six statewide races were on today’s ballot. Here are the unofficial precinct totals for Rowan County:

    • Republicans Sen. David Williams and State Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer- 1028

  • Tyndall to coach Tennessee

    Former Morehead State University Basketball Coach Donnie Tyndall has been named to that position at the University of Tennessee.

  • Open Fork man dies in crash

          Kentucky State Police said Thomas Allen Mabry, 52, of Open Fork Road, Morehead, was killed Tuesday morning when his pickup truck left the roadway and struck a concrete culvert.

  • Tyndall to coach Tennessee Vols

         Multiple media sources were reporting Monday night that former Morehead State University basketball Coach Donnie Tyndall, now at Southern Mississippi, had been hired to coach the University of 'Tennessee.

         UT is excpected to announce Tuesday that Tyndall, who won 56 games in two years at USM and twice led MSU to the NCAA Tournament, will sign an $8 million contract.

    Greg Todd, who has won nearly 80 percent of his games as a head coach, has been named head women's basketball coach at Morehead State.

  • Williams resigns as Rowan girls basketball coach

    Rowan County Athletic Director Jen Williams has confirmed to The Morehead News that she is stepping down as the school’s girl’s basketball coach.

    The Morehead News learned late Monday that Rowan County Senior High School Football Coach Kyle Singleton has resigned.

  • Hodges not returning as MSU women's basketball coach

    Morehead State Director of Athletics Brian Hutchinson has announced that Tom Hodges will not return as head coach of the women's basketball program, according to a press release on the website msueagles.com.

           Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt and Kentucky State Police Det. Toby Gardner late Thursday recovered the body of a premature infant off Igo Road in Rowan County.
